Neviim 2.0 Weather In His Unchanging Judgement – Part 1

[Read GEN 6:5-8, 11, 12; EX 9:18-20; 10:19; JAM 5:17, 18]

Keeping in mind G-d’s Sovereign purposes for His never-changing judgment [see the 7/3 Manna], let’s look [in Tenach] at one of His main methods of delivering that judgment–the weather. Having established yesterday that it’s HIS weather to control and use, in the context of His perfect timing, will and purpose.

Yhwh’s first usage of the weather for judgment was worldwide coverage of His Earth, as a result of a 40-day deluge from above and all the fountains of the great deep were broken up. For the skeptics, and there are many, here’s a scientific fact. If all of the current fountains of the deep were broken up, plus all moisture that is currently airborne were unleashed again as in that day, the whole Earth could easily be covered to the depth that Tenach says it was. [By the way, if G-d hadn’t afterwards promised not to drown the Earth again, He would’ve already done a replay, given the current sinful condition of mankind upon His planet.

The second time that the Creator unleashed His weather was during the week of plagues in Egypt. All of those plague-miracles were meant to show both the Jewish people and the Egyptians that He was superior to their gods. G-d specifically targeted all of their pagan deities [see Daily Matza for details] with the nature of each plague. In addition, He used the weather to punctuate His judgments:

  • A massive hail storm [EX 9:18-20] killed man and beast. It was a close second to the worst hail storm of all time, which is yet to come. [REV 16:21]
  • A flat-line wind blew the locusts that covered Egypt into the Red Sea. The L-rd turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away. This had to be almost like the haboobs that the Desert SW states of the US experience–100’s of miles wide and packing hurricane-force winds. [Wow, and what a feeding frenzy in the Sea!]
  • A canopy of thick cloud cover that resulted in darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness that could befelt…thick darkness over the land of Egypt for three days. My guess is that the day-and-night darkness was caused by an impenetrable cloud canopy/fog between the sun and Egypt. [No solar eclipse could last thatlong.] A dense, dark night-fog would result in a situation where they did not see one another. Blocking out the sun would have produced total darkness at night. Here’s how. Since the moon and stars can only produce light reflected from the Sun, blocking the Sun would obliterate 20% of the light of the night. [PS 139:11] The rest is zodiacal light, sunlight reflected off of interstellar dust from permanent general aurora. [Custer–The Stars Speak. BJU Press, 1977]

In closing, consider these questions. Who controls the weather? Who created all of the elements of what pagans call Nature? Our Elohim did! So, why don’t you tell others, as Moses told Pharaoh.

Selah…Shalom…[Later we’ll examine Nature, the pagan god of these Last Days.]
